Whenever I'm feeling down about being indoctrinated as a child in YEC Christian Schools, I come to listen to you and Aron Ra. So many missed opportunities because my younger self didn't understand evolution and was taught to reject any teaching of it. There's nothing wrong with learning a big part of science, but my teachers and pastors made it sound like demon possession and a future in an eternal lake of fire. Even if going back to college right now seems impossible, maybe the possibilities of going back will open up in the future. Thank you so much for posting. I enjoy your educational videos so much.

I can not find information that confirms that. Can you please elaborate on this.. to me it seem very close.. like if humans vs. chimps are 98.8% similar and Asian and African elephants (if they are less similar) they would be like 98.75% or something.. not like vastly more dissimilar than human/chimp. Same for tigers/lions.. I guess they are at least 98.75% similar if we put them at less similar than human/chimp. I thought tigers and lions were some 99% genetically similar. Please.. I want you to be correct.. but I am honestly a bit doubtful.

Sperm Competition explains the divergence of chimp and humans ??? Where is the sperm coming from ??? If the sperm is coming from humans and humans are 99.998 similar. Chimps are 99.98 similar. I dont understand why creationist have to come up with a mechanism that explains why the Y chromosome is so divergent from chimps to humans. Creationists dont believe in common ancestry, lol . We dont believe that humans evolved from a chimplike common ancestor. We believe that humans were created as separate kinds from any primate for many reasons. And that is our model . This is your job to explain why the Y chromosome is so divergent. Our model is logical because humans are completely different in anatomy when comparing primates to humans. Furthermore, humans like completely different lifestyles. Humans live in houses. Apes live in jungles. Humans incorporate advanced transportation to like Subways, airplanes , busses, etc . Apes swing in trees. Humans attend college's to advance their education so we can advance as a society and enrich our quality of life. Apes swing in trees . Humans build computers , cell phones , and wide screen 4k televisions to enrich our quality of livestyle and overall social enjoyment. Apes swing in trees . Lions and tigers are way more similar than humans and chimps everyway including DNA similarity . I have no idea what paper you are referencing. But im sure you are reading into the data to support your case. The evidence that humans were created separately is OVERLY OBVIOUS!! You have to start with the presupusition that common ancestry is a fact . Then you have to ignore OBVIOUS differences. Then, look at the evidence in an evolution framework that would only accept evidence that fits within your worldview. Its that simple

I am often frustrated to see americans and even scientists of all kinds never mention Linneus in these arguments. On a slightly different but related subject, how does that relate human pubic hair lice are more closely related to gorilla body lice than to either human hair and body lice or chimpanzee body lice?

I am now curious how this might compare on H. Neanderthal or H. Denisovan (or dare I ask, H. Floresiensis or H. Luzonensis) Y chromosomes. I am pretty sure we don't have 100+ samples of each to compare. Still, a comparison of even a few might prove interesting. (BTW do we even have valid DNA from H. Erectus? Or just proteins?) I understand that while we do have archaic genes, none of the archaic Y chromosomes made it to modern times. Also, none of the archaic mtDNA made it to modern times. Think how wild it would be to say, "My mtDNA is from my super-great Neanderthal grandma!" Or Denisovan great grandma. I am not sure I would want to find out that my mtDNA was from my super-super-great grandma H. Erectus! YEOWTCH!

I think it's really incredible that evolutionary biology and genetics have advanced so far; twenty years ago they'd just completed the human genome project after three billion dollars, thousands of scientists, and a decade of work, and now we're able to sequence and characterise chromosomes in far less time with far fewer people. There's so much data that half the challenge is developing ways to process and manage it, and the possibilities and discoveries from that are endless. It's kind of awe inspiring to be honest.

That shrinkage of the Y chromosome in chimps is huge. At that rate, they'll lose all of it within a few tens of thousands to a few hundreds of thounsands of years.

The bible does not say 2 of every kind. It says SEVEN of clean animals and 2 of unclean. Seems even then they understood you cant inbreed animals. But it multiplies their problem of the ark not being able to support its animal passengers numbers. Something they never think abput either is what about the aquatic creatures who need land like seal and walrus or many ocean birds who cant fly forever. Also the story the bible stole the ark story from was about a man saving his farm not the whole damned world.
